Well, the summer has flown by, and here we are watching the leaves change color and fall from the trees. How can this be? Turmoil continues with the war in Israel on our hearts and minds. Pray for God's intervention to bring peace to the nation of Israel and protection for the people of God.
It was such a blessing and a joy to see many of you recently at the ERC Fall Retreat at Doubling Gap Center! Heather Boss, CGWM Director of Equipping was the keynote speaker for a weekend of teaching on Beauty for Ashes. Jesus read from Isaiah 61:1-3 in His first message in the temple, declaring Himself to be the fulfillment of this promise.
As Jesus was called to bring good news to the poor, freedom for the captives, and a crown of beauty for ashes, so too are we His disciples. Heather taught us about God's calendar and feasts in addition to sharing her own story of how the Lord brought her through the loss of her home due to a fire. We saw firsthand how God really can bring beauty from ashes. And even in the rubble, there can be miracles and blessings. God was moving all weekend through the main sessions, breakout sessions, and all the times in between.
I also had the privilege of attending the ARC Fall Retreat at Camp Sonrise Mountain. Amanda Brougher, host at Cornerstone Television Network and Ministry Director of the Pittsburgh Dream Center, was the guest speaker. She shared many powerful and personal lessons to help us understand that God still uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things to advance His Kingdom. Her own personal testimony of how God sustained and instructed her through the almost tragic drug addiction of her son brought encouragement to all of us. Before the weekend concluded, Stacey Hay and Annette Weiland (event coordinators) led us in a time of prayer for many precious women of God in the midst of similar trials. We were reminded that our God is faithful. His mercies are new every morning, and He will bring us through every trial as we look to Him.
If you haven't had the opportunity to attend a Fall retreat, it is not too late! Mt Tabor Church of God will hold their Believe Conference "Restored" the first weekend of November. Guest Speaker Emily Peters will share how God can bring RESTORATION to the most devastating situations. Her husband and pastoral mentors died in a tragic accident.
